A fantastic opportunity exists for an experienced Midwife to enjoy a new challenge providing leadership and support to our Midwifery team.
In 2020, a new family birthing centre will be opening at BRHS and this position will play an integral role in shaping BRHS's new collaborative model of maternity care, ensuring that the goals of the model are achieved. In this role you will be responsible for supporting the functions of the Unit Manager by undertaking day to day coordination of the maternity services including the community based operations and providing management to the midwifery team. This is a clinical role with one supernumerary day per fortnight allocated to assist the completion of some management functions. The role offers a great chance to continue using your clinical skills and expand your management experience.
BRHS provides maternity services to women who are considered low to medium risk throughout the birthing continuum, in collaboration with other health care providers, particularly GP Obstetricians. The midwifery department at BRHS is a 4 bed unit encompassed within the Rotamah ward which also provides care by Registered Nurses to medical and paediatric and palliative clients.
The ideal applicant will have:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife
- A minimum of 4 years post graduate experience in midwifery required.
- Previous experience in a clinical leadership or management position will be highly regarded
- Experience in and proven ability to provide clear leadership, direction and support to members of the midwifery team
- Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills and the ability to work collaboratively with all key stakeholders
- Demonstrated high level of competence in all areas of pregnancy and birth care, with the proven ability to operate confidently across antenatal, Intra partum, and postnatal services.
- Proven competence in IV cannulation.
- A good knowledge of legislation relevant to midwifery practice.
- Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to identify when escalation of care is required and be able to facilitate the process
- A demonstrated commitment to the provision of high quality, effective and person centred care
