Position Details

STATUS:             Fixed Term, 12 months

HOURS:              Part Time 8.0 hours per fortnight


A motivated health professional is sought to coordinate the local Smiles 4 Miles program in our community.  Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals who are looking for a new challenge to perhaps add to their existing role.  This role is currently being offered for 12 months with a future contract dependant on the availability of further funding.

Smiles 4 Miles is an initiative of Dental Health Services Victoria (DHSV) which aims to improve the oral health of children and their families in high risk areas across Victoria. The position is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Smiles 4 Miles Program in the East Gippsland region in accordance with the DHSV plan. 

Key responsibilities for this role will include engaging with local early childhood services with a focus on targeting services most at need, continuing the implementation of a local Smiles 4 Miles oral health promotion plan and facilitating and evaluating Smiles 4 Miles training sessions for local educators.  The role is well supported and resourced by DHSV.


The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Qualification in healthcare related discipline or health sciences
  • A tertiary qualification or work experience  in health promotion/health sciences/community development or related discipline is highly desirable
  • A passion for children's health and oral health promotion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to write reports
  • Strong experience in engaging, influencing and developing relationships across diverse communities
  • A proactive approach with the ability to work autonomously to achieve objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate training sessions for various stakeholders
  • Flexible manner with the ability to manage multiple tasks and roles
  • Well-developed planning and project management skills
  • Experience developing, leading and evaluating projects
