Position Details

STATUS:        Ongoing, Full Time (Applications for a part time role will be considered)

DEPARTMENT:   Tambo Medical/Surgical

 

An opportunity has arisen for an Endorsed Enrolled Nurse to join the team in our Tambo Medical/Surgical ward in this ongoing position.

The Tambo ward contains 34 beds with a 4 bed higher acuity area and 2 bariatric beds.  The unit provides care for a large spectrum of medical conditions and post-operative care for gynaecology, urology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, ENT, general surgery patients.  The ward also has facilities for cardiac monitoring via both mobile telemetry units and fixed monitors.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work in a new wing where you will receive strong support from our dedicated nursing team combined with ongoing professional development opportunities enabling you to deliver first class patient centred care and grow your career.

 

The ideal applicant will have:

  • A Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) approved qualification in administration of medicines.
  • Recent acute medical or surgical nursing experience is preferred
  • Well-developed clinical assessment skills with the ability to apply the escalation of care principles.
  • Excellent care planning skills with a good understanding of and commitment to providing patient centred care with a compassionate approach.
  • A good understanding of discharge planning and transition of care issues so as to achieve safe and timely discharge;
  • Well-developed communication skills with the ability to utilise key principles to ensure a good clinical handover and escalation of care.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to effectively manage conflict
  • A NMBA approved qualification in Intravenous medication administration is preferred.
